Evening social program
The following social activities will be proposed during the conference:
- Monday evening : reception at Montpellier’s city hall
- Tuesday evening : wine tasting
- Wednesday evening : gala dinner
- Thursday evening : young statisticians meeting
Tuesday evening program
Wine tasting
Discover and enjoy the expertise of three local wine producers. For 5 euros you will be able to taste a few local wines, enjoy three full glasses from your own selection, and leave with a screenprinted glass.

Visit 1 : Aigues-Mortes
Discovery of the medieval town, starting from the place Saint Louis, founder of the city – where the history will be commented – to the church Notre-Dame des Sablons. The visit will end with the tower of Constante and the remparts.

Visit 2 : Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert
Explore the medieval village nested in the valley of Gellone and ranked amongst the “most beautiful villages in France”. You will discover the famous Gellone abbey founded in 804 by Guilhem – cousin of Charlemagne – now considered a jewel of the Languedoc Romanesque art. A unique peaceful stopover for pilgrims on the way to Saint Jacques de Compostela, Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert is an unavoidable village of the Hérault department.

Visit 3 : Montpellier – private mansions
After the religious wars, Montpellier rebuilt itself thanks to its new status of capital of the Languedoc region. The city grew richer and the medieval hostel was reorganised. The first private mansions appear, and their building go on up to the XVIIIth century. Discover some of these jewels.

Visit 4 : Montpellier – the essential
From the place de la Comédie to the place de la Canourgue and the Peyrou, through typical medieval narrow streets, discover Montpellier through the ages, its famous medieval Mikve (XIIIth century Jewish ritual bath) and its triumphal arch.

Visit 5 : Montpellier – the Fabre museum
The Fabre museum itself is an astounding work of art, an innovative combination of classic and contemporary architecture. Today, the museum, renovated in 2007, offers over 800 works, 900 engravings and 3,500 drawings in its 9,200 m² exhibition area. Come and admire the numerous masterpieces that have contributed to the reputation of this museum.

Conference gala dinner
The conference gala dinner will be held in Domaine des Moures Wednesday night at 19h30. Bus shuttles will connect the town center to the gala dinner place.
Free bus shuttles: From tramway station «Corum» between 18h30 and 18h50. Return between 23h30 and 01h15.
Thursday evening program
5th meeting “Young Statisticians – Guest Lecturers”
The young statisticians are invited to an informal meeting with the guest lecturers of the conference. It will be held in the Garden next to the Mathematics building (bat. 9), after the conference on Thursday, June 2. This event is organized by the Young Group of the SFdS.
